MEDICAL SERVICES
Medical Practitioners: As per the Census of 1961, 672 persons were engaged as physicians, surgeons and dentists while 905 persons were engaged as nurses, pharmacists and other medical and health technicians. [During 1973 there were 108 Vaidyas and 317 Nurses in the district.] About 50 per cent of the male doctors in the district, as against 13 per cent in respect of female doctors, were located in rural areas.
