MEDICAL PROFESSION

The medical profession has gained much during the last fifty years. People in rural as well as in urban areas have become more conscious of diseases with the result that the earnings of medical practitioners have gone up. A number of primary health centres, its subcentres, maternity and child health centres, subsidised medical practitioner's centres have been established under the rural health and sanitation programme. However, the proportion of doctors to the entire population of the district is very low especially in rural areas.
