SPECIAL SCHOOLS
A few more special schools comprising agricultural schools, technical schools have been opened in the district during the Third Plan period. The number of such schools increased from 9 in the year 1962-63 to 13 in the year 1965-66, whereas the strength of boys and girls also increased correspondingly from 307 and 2 in the year 1961-62 to 719 and 81, respectively, during 1965-66. There is a Government agricultural school at Gondia and Government Mining Polytechnic at Tumsar. The latter imparts instructions in mining and mine-surveying.
