The construction and improvement of roads go a long way to improve
the economic life of the people. A liberal programme of
improvement of existing roads side by side with the construction
of new roads and the conversion of country roads into metalled
ones becomes an essential part of economic advancement. The
conditions regarding roads in this district do not present a very
bright picture. There are a few arterial roads and state highways.
But the road system is defective because (1) there are no approach
roads, (2) the eastern part of the district is ill-served by
roads, and (3) roads become unusable in the rainy season.
In these circumstances improvement of existing roads and
construction of new ones should be given due priority. The problem
of developing approach roads, connecting centres of trade,
deserves urgent attention. The eastern part of the district which
is not served by good roads should have arterial as well as
approach roads. This will add to the economic prosperity of the
area.
