ADMINISTRATION OF MANAGED ESTATES

Under certain circumstances the Government have to take over the administration of estates so as to safeguard the interests of those persons who are incapable of managing their own estates. These include minors, lunatics and persons incapable of managing their own property due to any other cause and persons declared by the competent court to be incapable and of unsound mind for managing their properties.

Court of Wards Act

The Hyderabad Court of Wards Act, 1350 Fasli is in force in Marathwada region of the state. Under the act, the collector of Bhir acts as the court of wards within the territorial limits of the district. The collector assumes the superintendence of the estates found under mismanagement to preserve the property of the wards from misuse.

Estates under Management

In Bhir district two estates were taken over for administration by the government under the Court of Wards Act, 1350 Fasli. One was taken under government supervision in 1951 which was subsequently released in favour of the legal heirs of the deceased owner in 1956. The court of ward cess of one and half anna per rupee was recovered from the income of the property. The particulars of demand and collection are as under:

Demand—Rs. 37,658.

Collection—Rs. 17,462-5-3.

Balance—Rs. 20,195-10-9.

The balance is recoverable from the cultivators of lands to whom the lands have been given on lease basis.

At present no property in the district is under government supervision.
