AMALNER
Amalner is a village in Patoda tahsil having a population of 2,262
as per the 1961 Census. It has six temples, two dedicated to
Maruta, two to Mahadev and one each to Vithoba and Ram. Excepting
the temple of Ram, reported to be over 200 years old, no other
temple is of any consequence. It has a spacious mandap. The
gabhara containing the marble idols of Ram, Laksman and
Sita is 0.743 m2 (8 ft. square) and is crowned with a
sikhar. Its wooden door-frame bears lovely carved patterns of
temple replicas. Outside, in a small stone edifice is an image of Maruti. The local populace celebrates the Ramnavmi festival
with gaiety. Kirtans are recited and pravacans read
from Astami to Ekadasi. The temple receives an
annual income of Rs. 250 from 17 hectares (42 acres) of land of
its propriety. Amalner is well-known for the manufacture of brass
and copper ware. There is a high school conducted by the Rayat
Siksan Samstha.
