NIMGAON MAYAMBA
Nimganv Mayamba, with 1,589 inhabitants in 1961, is a
village in Gevrai tahsil, lying south of the tahsil headquarters
and situated on the banks of the Sindphana river. On the knoll of
a hill, on the outskirts of the village, there are three
samadhis, one of which is in the open and the other two
protected by a roof. The one which is roofless is supposed to be
that of Macchindranath and the other two those of Kanifnath and
another disciple of Macchindranath respectively. In honour of
Macchindranath a fair is held on Caitra Suddha Dvitiya. It
lusts for two days. Many people from the surrounding villages
attend it. A belief is current among the village folk that every
night Macchindranath comes to take rest in a certain house.
Adhering to this belief a bed has been provided in that house. On
Thursdays and Sundays people visit the samadhi to invoke
the blessings of the sage. The village has a primary school and
wells are the only source of water.
