SIRASMARG

Sirasmarg, with a population of 2,525 in 1961 is largely an agricultural village in Gevrai tahsil. It was formerly included in the Ahmadnagar district. It is situated along the bank of the river Sindphana and is well known for the temple of Javli Ayi, lying at a distance of about 2.41 km. (one and a half miles) from the village. In the month of Caitra a fair in honour of the goddess is held. The goddess is said to fulfil the cherished desires of her devotees. The village has a post office and a primary school. Weekly bazar is held on Mondays. River water is used for drinking and other purposes.
