ARTS, LETTERS AND SCIENCE
This category embraces those professionals who have achieved a degree or distinction in their respective fields such as arts, literature and science. It includes artists, writers, musicians, architects, engineers, etc.
In 1951. there were only 37 persons enumerated in this category in the district.
However, the category was confined only to arts, letters and journalism. The
1961 Census records considerable increase in the number of persons taking to
these professions. The following statement gives the number of persons engaged
in arts, letters and science in 1961:―
