TORKHEDE

Torkhede, largely an agricultural village situated on the plain in Shahada had 2,514 souls in 1961. It lies about 25.74 km. (16 miles) south-east of Prakashe and was mentioned in 1826 by Captain Clunes as a neat little town on the high road from Surat to Mhow, with a large ferry boat capable of carrying 200 persons [Clunes' Itinerary, 88.].
