VINCHUR

Vinchur, with 1691 inhabitants in 1961, is a small agricultural village in Dhulia taluka known for a large well supposed to have been built by the Gavali Rajas. But the well is no more in existence, houses having come up in that area. There is also a shrine of Mahadev with a 9.144 X 9.144 metres (30 ft. X 30 ft.) sabhamandap supported on twelve wooden pillars. While the ling symbol is housed in the inner shrine the nandi image is installed in the sabhamandap. In the same temple but in a separate chamber is a marble image of Ganapati.
