Avas (Alibag taluka, 18° 45' N, 72° 50' E; p. 1,980, RS. Bombay,
16 m.) is a small port in the Alibag taluka fourteen miles south of Bombay and eight miles north of Alibag. There is a temple dedicated to Nagesvar where a fair is held on Kartik sud 13 every year.
