| PREFACE I am very glad to bring out the e-book edition ( C.D.Version) of the Osmanabad District Gazetteer published by the Gazetteers Department. This C.D. version is a part of scheme of preparing Compact Discs of earlier published District Gazetteers. Osmanabad District Gazetteer was published in 1972. It contains authentic and useful information on several aspects of the district and is considered to be of great value to administrators, scholars and general readers, The copies of this edition are now out of stock. Considering its utility, therefore, need was felt to preserve this treasure of knowledge. In this age of modernization, information and technology have become key words. To keep pace with the changing need of the hour, I have decided to bring out C.D. version of this edition with little statistical supplementary and some photographs. I am sure; scholars and studious persons across the world will find this C.D. immensely beneficial. The present Latur District was formerly the part of Osmanabad district. Therefore, this e-book also contains information and photographs related to Latur District. I am thankful to the Honourable Minister, Shri. PREFACE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT A SEPARATE GAZETTER OF THE OSMANABAD DISTRICT HAS BEEN COMPLETED. The volume has been prepared by the Gazetteers Department, Government of Maharashtra, under the guidance of an Editorial Board. The Unit scrutinized the draft of this Volume with great care and made several helpful suggestions with a view to improving the standard and quality of the publication. It may also be mentioned here that the Government of India pays a sum of Rs.44,000 towards the compilation and Rs.16,000 towards the printing cost of each of the district volumes, which forms a portion of the expenditure incurred on the compilation and printing of the District gazetteer.
