The following statement shows the revenue received and expenditure incurred by the then District Local Board on education for some years from 1893-94 to 1920-21:-

The expenditure on primary education is incurred by the Stale Government through grants-in-aid to the Zilla Parishad, and grants to primary teachers' training colleges. The expenditure on primary education during 1958-59 was Rs. 65,23,013 as against Rs. 58,17,896 in 1957-58. The State Government's share in the expenditure incurred in 1961-62 was 77.5 per cent.
The expenditure incurred on the primary education by various agencies for the years 1964-65, 1968-69 and 1972-73 is shown below:-

Private institutions managed almost all the secondary schools in the district. The Government's share in the total expenditure on secondary education is through different schemes of grants for maintenance, salaries, buildings, building sites, equipment, freeships, scholarships, loans, etc., and special concessions to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward class students. The expenditure on secondary schools during the year 1958-59 was Rs. 19,91,634 as against Rs. 6,38,134 for the previous year. In 1961-62 Government's share in the total expenditure on secondary education was 68.3 per cent.
All the colleges in the district are managed by private institutions and they receive grants for maintenance, dearness allowance and buildings from the Government.
