LEGAL SERVICES
According to the Census of 1961, there were 265 legal practitioners in the district. The number of legal practitioners has increased during the last about three decades due to the increase in the number of cognizable and non-cognizable offences, enactment of the tenancy legislation and other legislative measures pertaining to marriage and civil life.
Generally the persons engaged in legal services are found in urban areas because the courts are situated at taluka and district headquarters. The 1961 Census classified the number of persons engaged in the legal services in Sholapur district as follows:-

The 1971 Census records the number of persons engaged in " legal services" as 129, of which only four have their establishments in rural areas. The number of persons engaged in legal services however decreased from 276 in 1961 to 129 in 1971.
