SWEeTMEAT MAKERS
The sweetmeat-makers raise initial capital from their own resources. The total investment of an average shop varies from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,200. In small shops, however, it ranges from Rs. 300 to Rs. 500.
Milk, ghee, sugar, hydrogenated oil, wheat and gram flour, etc. which are purchased locally, constitute the main raw materials. An establishment requires raw materials worth about Rs. 150 to Rs. 500 per month.
Where an establishment engages hired labour, the latter are paid from Rs. 45 to Rs. 75 per month. A few units are managed by owners with the help of members of the family. The annual gross turn-over of an average shop varies between Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 9,000. All preparations are hand-made and sold locally.
