DRESS AND ORNAMENTS

Muslims: Poor and ordinary Musalmans dress almost like Hindus but the most distinctive feature of the well-to-do and strict is that they will not wear dhotis but trousers or pyjamas of cotton, usually white. Now-a-days, the dress of all young men and women, whether Hindu or Muslim, is getting common and the distinctive head-dress of either is also fast disappearing, though a Muslim will occasionally put on a Jinnah cap of fur or wool. Women among even Hindus, particularly young girls, are taking to salwar and kamij after the Muslim style. Ornaments among women are also getting common, though the Mangalsutra is peculiar to the Hindu women only.
