MANDRUP
Situated in 17°30' north latitude and 75°45' east longitude midway between the Bhima and the Sina about 15 miles to the south-west of Sholapur and about two miles west of the Sholapur-Bijapur road, Mandrup has a population of 7,723 souls as per the Census of 1971.
Mandrup was once a market town and was the head-quarters of a subdivision under the Marathas, and till when it merged into the Sholapur sub-division, it was the head-quarters of a petty division or mahal. It is now included in South Sholapur taluka which has its head-quarters at Sholapur. It has a post office. Wells form the main source of water-supply. Scarcity of water is occasionally felt. Educational facilities are provided by the primary schools conducted by the Zilla Parishad and a high school known as Shri Panthakshari Vidya Mandir. A percolation tank has recently been constructed in the village.
The village is famous for the fair held in honour of Malsiddha Dev on Makar Sankrant, i.e., on January 14 every year. About 2,000 people attend the fair. An urus held in honour of Shaikh Saheb every year attracts a number of people.
