MUSLIM
Muslims are the next largest in the district, their strength being 69,406 (35,780 m; 33,626 f.) or 6.32 per cent of the total population. They are only 4.61 per cent in the rural areas but make as much as 18.14 per cent in urban areas. Even this percentage is due to the fact that Berar was part of the Nizam's territory for long, Yavatmal being the most adjacent to his territory. Most of them are Sunnis and they are not different from their brethren elsewhere.
